January 23 (SeeNews) - Swedish electric vehicles manufacturer Clean Motion said that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Moldova's Energy Efficiency Agency for a demonstration project that involves the use of electric pods in public transportation.
Under thе project, which will be carried out throughout 2019, Moldova will purchase eight Zbee electric pods which will be used in public transportation services, Clean Motion said in a press release on Tuesday.
The Swedish company will also install four public charging stations for electric vehicles with a monitoring system for power consumption management.
The goal with the project is to reduce the CO2 emission in Moldova through the implementation of electric pods to support public transport in Moldova's capital Chisinau.
"Moldova's plan to use Zbee as part of the public transport shows an innovative approach where they see that the use of new types of vehicles and business models are key for creating sustainable public transport," Clean Motion's chairman Niklas Ankarcrona said.
Besides this green public transport project, the two parties also discussed of further collaboration in regards to a Micro-Factory set up.
The Micro-Factoy is a Clean Motion concept, which is flexible in order to adapt to different market, volumes and buildings. It consists of an assembly line, a composite body manufacturing and Zbee specific tooling.
The MoU is part of the agency's application for grants for the demonstration project in the Demo Environment Programme at Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth.
