June 23 (SeeNews) - Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA) said on Thursday it plans to provide 10 million euro ($11.3 million) to help improve environmental protection in Serbia through four specific grant agreements.
Under the Environmental Infrastructure Support Programme (EISP), SIDA has supported environmental projects in Serbia with 4 million euro over the past 5 years, it said in a statement.
As a result, Serbia has doubled its revenues from environmental taxes from 6 billion dinars to 12 billion dinars (96.6 million euro).
SIDA is also helping Serbia to create the necessary infrastructure for environmental projects to apply for funding under 100 million euro worth of pre-accession EU funds.
