October 5 (SeeNews) - U.S.-based quick-service restaurant chain Subway said on Thursday it has opened a new restaurant in Romania's capital Bucharest following a 120,000 euro ($141,200) investment.
The restaurant is located in a special food court zone in a Kaufland supermarket building, Better Brands, one of Subway's franchisees in Romania said in a press release. This is Subway's 37th restaurant in Romania.
The company's plans include also other medium-term openings, as well as continued significant investment in the office or home delivery segment and catering for companies and events.
"We were among the first franchisors to open a unit in Romania five years ago and can say that in this period the number of customers has increased by almost 100% at Subway Pipera, the third restaurant opened by the American retailer in Romania since entry, " Better Brands CEO John Marino said.
The company opened its first restaurant in Romania in April 2012.
The Subway chain was founded in 1965, in Bridgeport, in the U.S., and has restaurants in over 44,000 locations in 108 countries.
