October 27 (SeeNews) - Romanian road infrastructure company CNAIR said that a consortium made up of the local arm of Austria's Strabag and Geiger Transilvania signed a 420.3 million lei ($86.3 million/86.1 million euro) deal for the construction of the Chetani - Campia Turzii motorway section.
The contract includes three months for the design stage and 18 months for the execution stage of the works, CNAIR said in a press release on Wednesday.
The Chetani - Campia Turzii motorway section will be 15.7 km long and will also comprise two bridges, seven passages and a road junction.
Works on the finished motorway segment will have a warranty period of 120 months. Financing for the works is provided through non-reimbursable European funds.
Vienna-headquartered Strabag offers services in all areas of the construction industry. The company established a subsidiary in Romania in 1995. In 2021, Strabag Romania booked a net profit of approximately 51 million lei, latest data from the finance ministry's website shows.
Established in 2004, Geiger Transilvania is a Romanian construction company specialized in road works. In 2021, the company booked a net profit of 18 million lei and employed 434, according to data from the finance ministry.
