BELGRADE (Serbia), November 24 (SeeNews) – Serbian passenger railway transport company Srbija Voz said it has signed an agreement for the overhaul of five locomotives with China's Zhuzhou Locomotives.
The 3.49 million euro ($4.14 million) contract will be financed with the proceeds of a loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Srbija Voz said in a statement earlier this week.
The locomotives will be used in Belgrade's urban rail system, Beovoz, and the regional transport network of Srbija Voz.
In May, the EBRD said Srbija Voz is inviting tenders for the overhaul and modernisation of five electric multiple train set units (EMUs).
The EBRD said in November 2016 it reallocated an existing sovereign guaranteed loan of 95 million euro to state-owned Serbian Railways, following a decision of the Serbian government to unbundle the vertically integrated group. The existing loan was restructured to reassign loan proceeds to the operating companies established in August 2015 - 91.5 million euro to Infrastructure of Serbian Railways company and 3.5 million euro to Srbija Voz.
