BELGRADE (Serbia), June 27 (SeeNews) – Serbian state-run rail freight operator Srbija Kargo opened a tender for the procurement of eight new multi-system electric locomotives, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) said.
The project will be financed with the proceeds of a loan from the EBRD towards the cost of the Trans-European Transport Corridor X, the bank said in an invitation for tenders posted on its website on Monday.
The scope of procurement is eight three-system electric locomotives for freight trains traction, including training of staff for their use and maintenance, with the delivery of special tools, testing devices and spare parts, the EBRD said.
Srbija Kargo will adopt a two-stage tendering procedure to ensure that all tenders conform to the same acceptable technical standard and meet the minimum operating and performance requirements, the bank noted.
Tenderer’s first stage technical proposals must be delivered on or before August 10, the EBRD added.
The priced proposals, i.e. second stage tenders, must be delivered on or before the time and date of the submission deadline, which shall be notified in writing by Srbija Kargo, the EBRD noted.
Corridor X is projected to connect Salzburg in Austria to the Greek port of Thessaloniki, passing through Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia and Macedonia.
