December 19 (SeeNews) - Serbia's infrastructure ministry has said that state-run rail freight operator Srbija Kargo is analysing a project for the overhaul of its rolling stock with the aim to increase cargo traffic.
Representatives of UK-based railway engineering firm Quantum held a meeting with the management of Srbija Kargo and state-owned railway infrastructure company Infrastruktura Zeleznice Srbije to present its know-how in the upgrade of freight rail carriages, the infrastructure ministry said in a statement on Monday.
The management of Quantum also met with Serbian infrastructure minister Zorana Mihajlovic to discuss the possibilities for using the experience of other European railway companies in the field of reconstruction of old freight rail carriages.
Srbija Kargo was established in August 2015 following the unbundling of railway operator Zeleznice Srbije into a holding company with three subsidiaries under the terms of a stand-by arrangement with the International Monetary Fund signed in February that year.
