October 17 (SeeNews) - Private investment group Balfin Group, which holds the licence for the international retailer SPAR in Albania, had opened two hypermarkets under the INTERSPAR brand in Tirana, SPAR International said.
At the inauguration of the hypermarkets earlier this month SPAR Albania, as part of Balfin Group, announced plans to open over 100 supermarkets and 10 hypermarkets and invest more than 50 million euro ($55 million) in the project, according to a statement posted on the website of SPAR International.
The project will create the largest retail network in Albania, SPAR International.
The two recently opened hypermarkets are converted Carrefour stores with an area of 7200 sq m and 3800 sq m, respectively. Balfin Group plans to convert 13 more former Carrefour supermarkets.
Entry into Albania brings to 44 the number of countries in which SPAR operates. SPAR International reported 2015 global retail sales of 33 billion euro from over 12,100 stores across four continents.
