May 14 (SeeNews) - Spanish hotel operator Iberostar has officially opened its Riviera hotel in Montenegro after completing a project for its overhaul, the Montenegrin government said.
Iberostar, together with its subsidiary Montenegro Hotels, acquired the 190-room Riviera hotel in Njivice last summer, the Montenegrin government said in a statement on Saturday.
According to Montenegrin media reports, Iberostar paid 6.8 million euro ($8.1 million) to acquire the hotel.
Iberostar's next objective will be to open a five-star hotel in Montenegro, the founder of the Spanish company, Miguel Fluxa Rossello, said during the official ceremony for the opening of Riviera.
In February, the Montenegrin government said Iberostar plans to open 450 jobs in Montenegro in the summer after the overhaul of its Riviera and Vila Jadran hotels are completed.
