October 15 (SeeNews) - The Bulgarian capital Sofia is expecting to receive 20 electric buses by the middle of this week, the city's mayor - Yordanka Fandakova, said.
The buses arrived at Burgas port on Sunday, Fandakova said in a Facebook post.
On Saturday, Sofia also received the first 17 out of 60 new compressed natural gas (CNG) buses, according to Fandakova. On Thursday last week, the municipaly said that it expects to receive all 60 buses by the end of the week.
Sofia also expects to receive an additional 22 CNG buses by the end of the year, under another contract, as well as 60 articulated CNG buses next year.
Since 2014, Sofia has replaced 60% of its public transport bus fleet with vehicles, which meet the EURO 6 emissions standard, according to the local authorities.
