August 19 (SeeNews) - Sofia municipality said on Monday it has opened a 36.4 million levs ($20.7 million/18.6 million euro) tender for the production of refuse-derived fuel (RDF) from waste.
The tender, which is divided into five lots, envisages the production of up to 80,000 tonnes of RDF per year in different forms, the municipality said in a tender notice.

Each lot has a different estimated value, as the highest-priced lot is valued at 16.3 million levs.
The project envisages the processing of municipal solid waste in waste depot Sadinata, near Sofia.
Bids in the tender will be ranked based on price and technical criteria, with a weight of 60% and 40%, respectively.
The deadline for submitting offers is September 20.
RDF is a renewable energy source, produced through the combustion of municipal solid waste.
