May 18 (SeeNews) - Most indices on the Bulgarian Stock Exchange closed higher on Wednesday, with the blue-chip SOFIX index rising by 1.09% to 616.05 points, bourse data showed.
A 5.56% rise in financial and insurance group Eurohold Bulgaria [BUL:4EH] supported the SOFIX gains. Eurohold closed at 2.28 levs as 72,700 shares in the company changed hands.
Parcel delivery company Speedy [BUL:SPDY] went up 10.89% to 112.0 levs, which made the company the top gainer among members of the BGBX40 index, which tracks the 40 most traded shares on the Sofia bourse. The BGBX40 index climbed 1.28% to 145.87 points.
The BGTR30, under which companies with a free float of at least 10% have equal weight, grew 0.06% to 181.88 points. The index was positively influenced by a 8.08% increase in Bulgarian Stock Exchange [BUL:BSE], the operator of the bourse in Sofia, to a price of 10.7 levs, as 5,169 of its shares changed hands.
Heating utility Toplofikatsia-Ruse [BUL:TPLR] was the most traded company on Wednesday, contributing 279,840 levs to the 2.1 million levs ($1.1 million/1.1 million euro) turnover on the BSE's main market.
The BGREIT, which tracks seven real estate investment trusts, edged down by 0.06% to 181.88 points, due to a 0.88% fall in Bulgarian Real Estate Fund REIT [BUL:BREF].
