January 17 (SeeNews) - Passenger numbers at Bulgaria's Sofia airport went up 14.5% on an annual comparison basis in 2021, reaching 3.36 million, the airport operator SOF Connect said.
Aircraft take-offs and landings increased by 13.4% on the year to 40,771 in 2021, SOF Connect said in a data release on Sunday.
Cargo handled at the airport dropped by an annual 8.3% to 21,141 tonnes in the review period.
Traffic at Sofia airport slumped in 2020 due to restrictions on international air travel introduced to limit the spread of the coronavirus pandemic. The airport served 2,937,846 passengers in 2020, down from 7,107,096 in the pre-pandemic 2019.
