December 3 (SeeNews) - Passenger traffic at Bulgaria's Sofia Airport fell by an annual 2.4% to 595,352 people in October, data from the airport operator showed.
Aircraft take-offs and landings at Sofia Airport edged down 1.1% year-on-year to 5,290 in the tenth month of 2019, according to Sofia Airport statistics.
Cargo handled at the airport grew 15.7% to 2,242 t. in October.
In July, Bulgaria's transport ministry picked a consortium led by French-based Meridiam Eastern European Investments as winner of a tender for awarding a 35-year concession contract to run Sofia Airport. The ministry's decision was appealed by all four other candidates, which filed bids for the contract, but the complaints were dismissed by the competition regulator.
The regulator's decision was subsequently challenged by one of the bidders in the tender.
