November 17 (SeeNews) - SOF Connect, the concessionaire of Bulgaria's Sofia Airport, has extended the deadline for expression of interest in a tender for the technical design of the expansion of Terminal 2 to December 15, a company spokesman told SeeNews on Thursday.
The deadline has been extended from the initially stipulated date of November 17 to ensure the participation of the widest possible pool of potential bidders, the spokesman told SeeNews in an emailed statement.
SOF Connect announced on Friday the tender for the design project for renovation and expansion of Terminal 2, the larger of the airport's two terminals.
The company representative confirmed that the originally announced deadline of December 23 for submitting bids remains unchanged, but declined to comment on the value of the project.
In June, SOF Connect said it increased to over 140 million levs ($74 million/71.6 million euro) the amount of planned investments in the upgrade of Sofia Airport over the first five years of its contract awarded in 2020. The development of the departure area is planned for 2023.
Over the next 18 months, the refurbishment of Terminal 2 will also involve increasing the number of check-in counters from to 52 from 34 at present, the relocation of the domestic flights area and the installation of a new baggage handling system, the company said in July.
