August 15 (SeeNews) - Serbia and Montenegro Air Traffic Services (SMATSA) will open a tender for upgrading the air traffic management systems in Belgrade, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has said.
SMATSA intends to use the proceeds of a loan extended by the EBRD and the the European Investment Bank (EIB) to finance the project, which has a total estimated cost of 74.15 million euro ($87.1 million), EBRD said in a tender notice posted on its website on Monday.
The proposed project will require the procurement of civil works for construction of an annex to the existing air traffic control centre Belgrade building with Belgrade air traffic control tower and new Nis air traffic control tower with Beograd Contingency ATCC Centre, the notice reads.
Tendering for the project is expected to begin in the fourth quarter of 2017. It will be open to firms from any country, EBRD said.
SMATSA said Earlier this month that it plans to start building a new control tower at Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport in the autumn of 2018. The technical documentation for the project will be ready by June 2018, while construction works will be completed in 2019.
The EBRD has invested close to 4.35 billion euro in Serbia to date in 207 projects, data from the website of the lender shows.
