November 9 (SeeNews) - Slovenia's trade balance turned to a 857,805 euro ($992,734) deficit in the first nine months of 2021, from a 1.28 billion euro surplus in the like period of 2020, as imports dropped faster than exports, the country's statistical office said on Tuesday.
Exports in January-September grew 19.1% on the year to 28.9 billion euro, while imports rose 29.4% to 29.7 billion euro, the statistical office, SURS, said in a statement.
The European Union was Slovenia’s main trading partner in the nine-month period, absorbing 19.1 billion euro of the country's exports and providing 19.4 billion euro of its imports.
In September alone, Slovenia's exports went up 16.7% on the year to 3.5 billion euro, while imports grew 46.7% to 3.9 billion euro, resulting in a 475,389 euro trade deficit for the month.
