LJUBLJANA (Slovenia), June 28 (SeeNews) – Slovenian telecommunications operator Telemach has acquired Maxtel, a leading optical networking solution provider in Ljubljana, after outbidding two major rivals in the country, local media reported.
After outbidding Telekom Austria and Telekom Slovenije, Telemach has become the owner of Maxtel and has received regulatory approval for the acquisition, news portal Dnevnik.si said on Tuesday.

Maxtel's previous majority owner was Swiss Perano Consulting with a 70% stake.
Maxtel, a provider of dark fibre optical connections, specialises in setting up optical networks and leasing them.
Telemach Slovenia is part of United Group, a leading cable and pay TV operator in Southeast Europe. Since March 2014 United Group has been majority-owned by New York-based global investment firm KKR. The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is a co-investor in the company.
