February 26 (SeeNews) - Slovenian energy services provider Resalta said it has signed an agreement to undertake complete thermal energy outsourcing for Croatia's Zagreb International Airport over the next twenty years.
The deal with Resalta will allow Medjunarodna Zracna Luka Zagreb (MZLZ), the operator of Croatia's largest and busiest airport, to focus on its core business without the need to worry about energy supply for the next two decades, the Slovenian company said in a statement last week.
Under the agreement, Resalta will sell thermal energy to the airport, and provide all operations and maintenance services as well as 24/7 customer service. The supplier is also ready to expand the thermal capacity if the client’s consumption needs increase to match the growth of its business.
Resalta said it has already implemented a complete renovation of the airport’s largest boiler room, and has provided 100% of the financing for this energy renovation project.
No financial details of the agreement were disclosed.
"Under the terms of the contract, Resalta retains ownership of the new equipment in the heating system and the boiler room, selling the produced heat to MZLZ," the Slovenian company added.
Resalta, formerly GGE, was founded in 2011 by Slovenian companies Gorenje, Geoplin and Energetika Ljubljana. The name GGE originally stood for the three founding companies. In 2018, GGE announced its rebranding to Resalta, saying it had exceeded all initial expectations and had grown regionally alongside with its brand.
MZLZ, also known as the Zagreb Airport International Company (ZAIC), signed a 30-year concession agreement back in 2012 for the management of the airport in Zagreb.
Passenger traffic at the airport rose 3.0% to some 3.436 million in 2019.
MZLZ comprises France's Bouygues Batiment International, Aeroports de Paris (ADP), Turkey's TAV Airports, EU-backed Marguerite Fund, the World Bank's private sector arm - the IFC, and Croatia's Viadukt.
