November 30 (SeeNews) - Slovenia's president Borut Pahor has nominated Bostjan Vasle, the director of the country's Institute of Macroeconomic Analysis and Development, as governor of the central bank, the president's office said on Friday.
The candidate meets high professional criteria and has the necessary experience to perform the functions of governor of Slovenia's central bank, Pahor said, according to a statement by the president's office.
Pahor expects that Vasle's nomination will be backed by parliament in December, the president's office said.
If approved, he will replace Bostjan Jazbec, who resigned in April to take a post on the EU’s Single Resolution Board.
In October, the Slovenian Parliament rejected Pahor's proposal that Jazbec be succeeded by his deputy Primoz Dolenc.
Vasle will appear at a public hearing on December 6.
He has headed the Institute of Macroeconomic Analysis and Development since December 2007.
