September 22 (SeeNews) - Outgoing traffic from mobile telephony networks in Slovenia increased by 17% on the year in the first half of 2020, to 2.77 billion minutes, the country’s statistical office said.
In the second quarter alone, over 1.4 billion minutes of outgoing traffic from mobile networks were recorded, up by an annual 21% and 6.0% higher on the quarter, the office said in a statement on Monday.
There were some 2.5 million mobile network users in the country at the end of June, up by 1.0% compared to a year earlier, but down 0.2% compared to the end of March.
In the first half of 2020, the outgoing voice traffic from fixed networks, including national and international outgoing fixed traffic, decreased by 3.4% on the year to some 191.5 million minutes.
At the end of the second quarter, there were almost 94,500 active classical telephone lines, down by an annual 15% and 4.0% lower on the quarter.
At the end of June, there were almost 367,000 broadband internet connections, up by 3.0% on the year and 0.6% higher compared to end-March.
Nearly 1.2 billion SMS-messages were sent in January-June, down 11.2% on the year.
Slovenia has a population of over 2.0 million.
