January 12 (SeeNews) - Slovenia's sole nuclear power plant (NPP) Krsko produced 5.42 million MWh of electricity net in 2021, 1.66% above plan, the plant operator said.
The plant has been operating uninterruptedly since the completion of the regular maintenance works on May 5, 2021, Krsko NPP said in a statement earlier this week.
The power generation capacity of Krsko's reactor was reduced to 75% during this last weekend to eliminate minor deviations in the chemical parameters of the condenser chamber, it said.
After the elimination of the cause of the deviations, the reactor returned to full capacity on January 10.
The power plant located near the border with Croatia, generates some 40% of Slovenia's electricity output. It operates a Westinghouse pressurised light water reactor of 2,000 MW thermal power capacity.
