LJUBLJANA (Slovenia), November 26 (SeeNews) – Slovenia's net electricity production rose 24% month-on-month to 1,732 GWh in October, while total electricity consumption increased 7% on the month to 1,175 GWh, the statistical office said.
In annual terms, the country's power output was up 111%, while total consumption remained flat, the office of statistics said in a statement on Wednesday, citing provisional data.
"This month's electricity generation is the highest in the last 17 years of monitoring," the statement read.
The October output of the country's hydro power plants rose 167% on the year and was up 40% on a monthly comparison basis to 671 GWh, the output of the thermal power plants was down by an annual 1% and increased by a monthly 34% to 524 GWh, while the electricity production of Slovenia's sole nuclear power plant, Krsko, rose 5% on the month to 517 GWh, which was also significantly higher than the 21 GWh production recorded in October 2019, the statement read.
In October, 478 GWh of electricity was imported and 999 GWh was exported. Imports fell 8% compared to the previous month, while export increased 27%.
In annual terms, Slovenia's electricity exports went up 101%, while imports fell 47%.
Hydro energy had the largest share of 38.7% in Slovenia's total power production in October, followed by thermal energy with 30.3%, nuclear energy with 29.9% and solar with 1.1%.
