LJUBLJANA (Slovenia), March 25 (SeeNews) – Slovenia's net electricity production decreased by 9% month-on-month to 1,275 GWh in February, while total electricity consumption fell 12% on the month to 1,110 GWh, the statistical office said.
In annual terms, the country's power output was up 17%, while total consumption fell 8%, the office of statistics said in a statement on Wednesday, citing provisional data.
The February output of the country's hydropower plants fell 1% on the year and was up 82% on a monthly comparison basis to 233 GWh, the output of the thermal power plants was down by an annual 17% and increased by a monthly 5% to 353 GWh, while the electricity production of Slovenia's sole nuclear power plant, Krsko, declined 10% on the month to 483 GWh, the statement read.
In February, 763 GWh of electricity was imported and 614 GWh was exported. Imports fell 10% compared to the previous month, while export decreased 12%.
In annual terms, Slovenia's electricity exports rose 30%, while imports went down 13%.
Nuclear energy had the largest share of 36.6% in Slovenia's total power production in February, followed by hydro energy with 33.2%, thermal energy with 29% and solar with 1.1%.
