May 17 (SeeNews) - Slovenian chemicals company Melamin [LJSE:MKOG] estimates the damage at its Kocevje factory caused by last week's explosion at 36 million euro ($38 million), local media reported.
Melamin has provided a plan for the recovery of the factory to its board of supervisors, under which production could be relaunched in a year and a half, the STA news agency quoted general manager Srecko Stefanic as saying on Monday.
"The supervisory board adopted a common position that the salaries of employees will remain the same for six months," Stefanic said.
Some smaller parts of the factory, such as the boiler room or a unit of the footwear industry, could be relaunched in three months, while others will take longer to rehabilitate, he added.
Five people died and several were injured after an explosion at the factory of Melamin on May 12. The accident was caused by a human error during the pumping of epichlorohydrin, a raw material for the production of resin.
