LJUBLJANA (Slovenia), July 23 (SeeNews) – Slovenia's port operator Luka Koper [LJE:LKPG] has picked local construction company GIC Gradnje to build a long-awaited parking facility with 6,000 parking spots, local media reported.
GIC Gradnje, in partnership with Slovenian-Italian company Pro-Concrete has submitted the lowest bid of 17.9 million euro ($20 million) without VAT in the tender for the project, which has long been aqwaited by car manufacturers, news daily Delo reported over the weekend.
The only other bid came from a consortium of local companies Kolektor CPG and Adriaing, which offered to build the facility for 19.3 million euro without VAT.
Luka Koper opened the tender for the construction of 6,000 parking spaces at the Adriatic port of Koper in May.
Earlier this month, Luka Koper said its maritime throughput totalled 11.9 million tonnes in the first half of 2019, down 1% year-on-year.Container throughput grew to 497,891 TEUs, up 2% year-on-year, while throughput of cars fell to 341.990 units, from 408.855 units on the same period in 2018, due to the global slow-down of new car sales
The port's net sales revenue went up 6% on the year to 118.0 million euro in January-June, according to partial, non-audited data.
