LJUBLJANA (Slovenia), November 7 (SeeNews) – Slovenia's sole nuclear power plant Krsko has said it reconnected to the grid following regular maintenance which began on October 1.
"Following tests at low power, we will gradually increase it", Krsko said in a statement on Sunday.
The regular overhaul included refuelling, maintenance works and modernisation of machinery, equipment and structures.
The power plant holds regular maintenance works every 18 months. The plant delivered 8.23 million MWh of electricity to the grid over the 18-month fuel cycle.
Krsko beat its 2015 production target by 0.8%, generating a net 5,370 GWh, but fell 11.4% short of the record-high production achieved in 2014.
Krsko was built in Slovenia near the border with Croatia in the 1970s, when the two countries were still part of the former Yugoslavia. The two neighbours share the power plant's output.
