January 31 (SeeNews) - Slovenian pharmaceuticals producer Krka [LJE:KRKG] plans to invest 163 million euro ($176.6 million) in the construction of a chemical analytical center and the expansion of its factory for active pharmaceutical ingredients in Krsko, CEO Joze Colaric said.
Krka intends to kick-start the project in the first half of 2023, after obtaining a final environmental approval, Colaric said in a video posted on the YouTube channel of private broadcaster ePosavjeTV last week.
"We have had a building permit for quite some time. In September last year, we obtained environmental protection consent, but it is not yet final. We expect that we will get the final consent at the end of the first quarter or at the beginning of the second quarter, and then we will start construction works," Colaric said.
The construction of the entire complex is expected to take four years and the number of employees in Krsko will be gradually increased, he added.
Krka opened its active pharmaceutical ingredients plant in Krsko, named Sinteza 1, in 2015. The company invested 85 million euro in the project.
