March 8 (SeeNews) - A consortium led by Slovenia's Kolektor CPG has completed the digging of about 48% of the tunnels on the second track of the Divaca-Koper railway line, state-run project company 2TDK said.
Currently, 17,883 metres of main and service pipes of the second track are excavated out of a total of about 37,000 metres, 2TDK said in a statement earlier this week.
The tunnels currently under construction run under less populated areas, 2TDK said.
The consortium completed the breakthrough of the 3,808 m-long Skofija tunnel on the line on March 2, a month ahead of schedule, 2TDK said last week.
Skofija represents the third completely excavated tunnel on the route of the second track of the Divaca-Koper railway line.
Earlier this month, Slovenia's government extended the deadline for the construction of a second track of the Divaca-Koper railway line to the middle of 2026 from the end of 2025. The government also increased the estimated investment value of the remaining works to 1.027 billion euro ($1.087 billion) from 940 million euro.
