LJUBLJANA (Slovenia), August 21 (SeeNews) – Slovenia's Kolektor CPG has filed a complaint with state-owned motorway company DARS over DARS' choice of Turkey's Cengiz Insaat Sanayi ve Ticaret for the construction of the eastern pipe of the Karavanke motorway tunnel, local media reported.
The Turkish company lodged the lowest bid of 89.3 million euro ($102.9 million) for the project, in a tender answered by eight other bidders including Kolektor CPG, news daily Delo reported late on Monday.
The highest offer of 140.3 million euro was submitted by a consortium comprising Pomgrad, Marti Svica and Marti Avstrija.
Delo did not disclose Kolektor CPG's reason for complaining about DARS' decision but noted that the appeals period closes on Wednesday.
Cengiz Insaat Sanayi ve Ticaret A.S. has built highways, railways, tunnels, ports, airports, power stations, housing and other facilities in Turkey, Kazakhstan, Iraq, Kuwait, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, and in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Among its current projects is the construction of the new Istanbul airport, the largest project in Turkey's history, which is expected to be completed this year.
The length of the eastern tube of the Karavanke tunnel through Slovenia, to the border with Austria, will be 3546 m.
