LJUBLJANA (Slovenia), February 28 (SeeNews) – Slovenia's budget showed a deficit of 52.9 million euro ($60.2 million) in January, as compared to a surplus of 9.2 million euro in the same month a year earlier, the finance ministry said on Thursday.
Total budget revenues increased 6.4% year-on-year to 821.8 million euro in January, while expenditures rose by 14.6% to 874.6 million euro, the finance ministry said in a statement.
Tax revenues, which represent the main source of state budget revenues, amounted to 774.8 million euro in the first month of the year, up 8.4% compared to January 2018.
VAT revenues, which mostly depend on the growth of private and government consumption, rose by 4.8% to about 342.1 million euro.
Slovenia ended 2018 with a budget surplus of 536.9 million euro, compared to a deficit of 326.2 million euro in 2017.
