December 23 (SeeNews) - The number of foreign tourist arrivals in Slovenia rose by 11.3% year-on-year to 2,625,697 in the January-October period, provisional data from the state statistical office showed on Friday.
Overnight stays by foreign tourists grew 10.3% in the ten months through October 2016, reaching 6,384,492, the statistics office said in a statement.
Foreign tourist arrivals accounted for 71% of the total number of tourists, whereas overnights spent by foreign nationals made up 66% of all overnights in the period.
Domestic tourists totalled 1,073,370 in the first ten months of 2016, up 5.0% on the year, taking the total number of tourists to 3,699,067, up 9.4% on the year.
Domestic tourists spent 3,256,956 nights in Slovenia in the first ten months of 2016, up 1.9% on the year, taking the overall number of tourist overnights to 9,641,448, up 7.3%.
In October alone, the number of foreign tourists visiting Slovenia rose 21.2% on the year to 230,576, whereas foreign overnights climbed 26.9% to 515,463.
