LJUBLJANA (Slovenia), July 9 (SeeNews) – Slovenia recorded a trade surplus of 345.2 million euro ($409.4 million) in the first five months of 2021, as compared to 829.1 million euro surplus in the like period of 2020, the country's statistical office said on Friday.
Five-month exports rose 18.6% on the year to 15.8 billion euro, while imports increased 23.3% to 15.5 billion euro, the statistical office, SURS, said in a statement.
The European Union was Slovenia’s main trading partner in January-May, absorbing 10.5 billion euro of the country's exports and providing also 10.5 billion euro of its imports.
In May alone, Slovenia's exports rose 31.2% on the year to 3.19 billion euro, while imports went up 51.6% to 3.42 billion euro, resulting in a 226.9 million euro trade deficit for the month.
