April 7 (SeeNews) - Slovenia's trade surplus decreased to 36.5 million euro ($38.8 million) in the first two months of 2017, from 195.4 million euro a year earlier, as imports grew faster than exports, the statistical office said on Friday.
Exports in the period January-February rose to 4.21 billion euro, 8.9% higher than a year earlier, while imports increased 13.7% to 4.18 billion euro.
The European Union was Slovenia’s main trading partner in the first two months of 2017, absorbing 3.3 billion euro of the country's exports and providing 3.4 billion euro of its imports.
In February alone, the trade surplus amounted to 15 million euro, as exports rose 4.6% on the year to 2.12 billion euro and imports expanded 8.8% to 2.11 billion euro.
