September 20 (SeeNews) - New passenger car registrations in Slovenia rose by 4.1% on the year in the first eight months of this year, to 34,326, the European Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACEA) said on Wednesday, quoting provisional figures.
In the period under review, petrol remained the most popular fuel type for newly-registered cars in Slovenia, with 20,675 cars, followed by diesel cars (6,450) and hybrid electric cars (3,269), ACEA said in a statement.
In January-August, the highest annual rise was reported in battery electric vehicle (EV) registrations, by 108% to 2,825 units, while sales of hybrid electric cars dropped 27.1% on the year.
"From January to August 2023, new EU car registrations grew substantially (+17.9%), totalling 7.1 million units," ACEA said. Despite this year-to-date improvement, the market trails the pre-pandemic level of 9 million units sold in 2019, it added.
Alone in August, new car registrations in Slovenia fell 3.0% on the year to 3,240 units.
New passenger car registrations in Slovenia fell by 14.2% on the year in 2022, to 46,339, ACEA said earlier.
