October 1 (SeeNews) - Slovenia recorded a budget surplus of 22.9 million euro ($25 million) in the eight months through August, compared to a surplus of 299.7 million euro in the like period last year, the finance ministry said.
Total budget revenues increased 2.8% year-on-year to 6.58 billion euro in the January-August period, while expenditures rose by 7.4% to 6.55 billion euro, the finance ministry said in a statement on Monday.
Tax revenues, which represent the main source of revenues to the state budget, amounted to 5.66 billion euro in the eight-month period, up by 4.9% compared to the same period in 2018.
VAT revenues rose by 3.8% to about 2.5 billion euro fueled by consumption growth.
Slovenia ended 2018 with a budget surplus of 536.9 million euro, compared to a deficit of 326.2 million euro in 2017.
