May 31 (SeeNews) - Slovenia's consumer prices grew by 8.4% year-on-year in May, after rising by 9.4% in April, the country's statistical office said on Wednesday.
On a monthly comparison basis, consumer prices went up 1.1% in May, after increasing by 1.5% a month earlier, the statistical office said in a statement.
The largest upward impact on annual inflation, 2.3 percentage points (pps), came from 14.7% higher prices of food, while 0.8 pp was added by 7.7% higher prices of goods and services for recreation and culture.
The monthly growth rate was pushed up the most, by 0.2 of a percentage point (pp), by 4.5% higher prices of tobacco, 4.2% higher prices of package holidays, and a 1.1% rise in prices of food.
Measured by the harmonised index of consumer prices, annual inflation in Slovenia was 8.1% in May.
