LJUBLJANA (Slovenia), July 2 (SeeNews) – Slovenian industrial conglomerate Hidria said on Monday it opened a new high-tech, fully automated production line for its Optymus PSG diesel engine cold-start system in the town of Tolmin.
With the Optymus PSG system, which is installed in the diesel engine combustion chamber, Hidria largely contributes to the further development of environment-friendly diesel technologies of the future, it said in a statement.
The system collects data on the pressure in the engine more than 100,000 times a second and communicates them via microelectronics and a digital algorithm to the central engine computer, thus in real time optimising the injection of fuel. Consequently, fuel consumption and emissions drop radically.
"This is one of the greatest achievements of the contemporary Slovenian industry, largely resounding also at the European and global levels," the company noted.
Hidria's system is already used in modern diesel cars of the world's largest manufacturers, including the Volkswagen Group with its car makes Audi, VW, Seat and Skoda, enabling them to meet all current emission regulations and the new ones that will enter into force in 2020.
Hidria Corporation is a global leader in electrical steel laminations and motor cores, with more than 1,800 employees in Slovenia, Germany, Hungary and China.
