LJUBLJANA (Slovenia), August 9 (SeeNews) – Slovenia's trade surplus declined to 47.9 million euro ($53.7 million) in the first half of 2019, from a surplus of 417.5 million euro in like period of last year, the country's statistical office said on Friday.
Exports rose to 9.2% year-on-year to 16.8 billion euro in the period under review, whereas imports increased 11.2% to 16.8 billion euro, the statistical office, SURS, said in a statement.
The European Union was Slovenia’s main trading partner in the first half, absorbing 12.7 billion euro of the country's exports and providing 12.5 billion euro of its imports.
In the month of June, Slovenia's trade balance was in surplus of 124.9 million euro, as exports rose 3.3% on the year to 2.8 billion euro and also imports expanded 3.3% to 2.7 billion euro.
