November 30 (SeeNews) - Energetika Ljubljana plans to call a tender for the supply of two gas-fired turbines in the first quarter of 2017, the Slovenian utility company said on Wednesday.
Energetika Ljubljana has applied for subsidies for production of electricity through cogeneration and "aims to build two gas units each in the 50 MW range", the company's public relations manager Doris Kukovicic told SeeNews in an e-mailed statement.
After qualifying for the subsidies, Energetika Ljubljana intends to issue a tender for turbines equipped with heat recovery steam generators (HRSGs), ancillary equipment, stacks and connections to its existing power station, Kukovicic added.
Energetika Ljubljana operates Termoelektrarna Toplarna Ljubljana (TE-TOL), a coal-fired heating energy and electricity station which covers 90% of heating energy demand of Slovenia's capital. In 2004, the company launched a project to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by burning woodchips. The plant has installed heat energy capacity of 486 MW and power generating capacity of 124 MW.
The company is part of holding group Javni Holding Ljubljana, in which the Ljubljana municipality holds a majority stake.
