May 25 (SeeNews) - Slovenia's economic sentiment index dropped 2.1 percentage points month-on-month in May to 9.5, after edging down by 0.7 points in April, seasonally adjusted data from the country's statistical office showed on Thursday.
On an annual comparison basis, the indicator was 5.7 percentage points higher in May, the data indicated. In May, the index was 11.9 p.p. above the long-term average.
In May, the services confidence indicator was 3 p.p. lower than in April. Compared to May last year, it increased by 7 p.p. and was 15 p.p. above the long-term average. It was lower month-on-month due to a decrease in the present and expected demand indicators.
The manufacturing confidence indicator was 3 percentage points lower than the month-earlier value. Compared to May 2016, it increased by 1 p.p. and was 7 p.p. above the long-term average. The value of the confidence indicator has decreased markedly for the second straight month, breaking the upward trend that began in the second half of last year.
The retail trade confidence indicator was 2 p.p. lower than in April. Compared to the same month last year, it decreased by 3 p.p. and was 1 p.p. above the long-term average. Among the situation indicators, the volume of stock indicator and the business situation indicator increased, while the selling prices indicator decreased compared to the previous month.
In May, the construction confidence indicator was 2 p.p. lower than in April 2017. Compared to May 2016, it increased by 22 p.p. and was 26 p.p. above the long-term average. The situation indicators and the expectation indicators mostly decreased compared to the previous month, except the expected order books indicator.
