LJUBLJANA (Slovenia), February 24 (SeeNews) – Slovenia's economic sentiment index increased in February by a monthly 3.3 percentage points (pps) to a negative 3.6 pps, the country's statistical office said on Wednesday.
On an annual comparison basis, the overall economic sentiment indicator fell 8.1 pps in February, after plunging by 11.1 pps in January, the statistical office said in a statement.
The monthly increase in February came as a result of improved consumer confidence (up 1.6 pps), services confidence (up 1.2 pps), confidence in retail trade (up 0.3 pps) and construction sector confidence (up 0.2 pps). Confidence in manufacturing dropped 0.1 pps in February, compared with the previous month.
In annual terms, the February decline was most evident in services (down 5.9 pps), followed by retail trade confidence (down 2.4 pps) and consumer confidence (down 1.5 pps). At the same time, confidence in manufacturing and construction improved by 1.6 pps and 0.1 pps on the year, respectively.
The sentiment indicator is the weighted average of the confidence indicators in manufacturing, retail trade, construction, services and the consumer confidence indicator.
