August 31 (SeeNews) - Slovenia's annual consumer prices remained flat on the year in August after growing 0.2% in July, data from the country’s statistics office showed on Wednesday.
On a monthly comparison basis, consumer prices also stayed unchanged in August, following a 0.9% decline in July, the data indicated.
The annual CPI was pushed up mostly by higher prices of package holidays (6.0%), breads and cereals (1.9%), vegetables (5.2%), telephone and internet services (2.4%) and accommodation services (10.1%). It was was pushed down mostly by lower prices of petroleum products (price of liquid fuels dropped 11.5%), second-hand motor cars (-8.6%), heat energy (-8.1%), gas (-4.1%) and garments (-1.8%).
The monthly CPI was pushed up by higher prices of garments (2.5%) and package holidays (2.3%) and was kept down by the lower price of petroleum products.
Measured by the EU-harmonised index of consumer prices, Slovenia's deflation accelerated to 0.2% in August from 0.1% a month earlier. On the month, HICP prices fell 0.1% after dropping 0.9% in July.
