July 31 (SeeNews) - Slovenia's consumer prices rose by 1.9% year-on-year in July, after growing by annual 2.1% in the previous month, the country's statistical office said on Tuesday.
The largest upward impact on the annual inflation (0.5 percentage points) came from higher prices of motor fuels, while higher prices of food (up by 2.6%) added 0.4 p.p., the statistical office said in a monthly inflation report. A further 0.4 p.p. were contributed by higher prices of electricity, gas and other fuels, which rose by 5.3%.
The annual inflation was pushed down by 0.3 p.p. by lower prices of motor cars, which fell by 4.5%.
On a monthly comparison basis, Slovenia's consumer prices fell 0.9% in July, after remaining unchanged in June.
Due to summer sales, clothing and footwear prices decreased, which pushed monthly inflation down: 0.7 p.p. was contributed by lower prices of garments (by 14.6%) and 0.3 p.p. by lower prices of shoes and other footwear (by 12.4%).
A further 0.2 p.p. was contributed by lower prices of food (by 1.0%), while 0.1 p.p. each was contributed by lower prices of household furniture (by 3.6%) and motor fuels.
Measured by the EU harmonised index of consumer prices, Slovenia's annual inflation was 2.1% in July, while on a monthly comparison basis the country recorded a drop in prices of 0.8%.
Slovenia recorded annual inflation of 1.4% in 2017.
