July 1 (SeeNews) - Slovenia's consolidated budget turned to a 1.386 billion euro ($1.554 billion) deficit in January-May, from a surplus of 197 million euro in the like period of last year, the finance ministry said.
Consolidated budget revenue fell by an annual 9.2% to 7.12 billion euro in the first five months of the year, with an 11% drop in tax revenue to 6.27 billion euro, while total consolidated expenditures increased by 11.4% to 8.51 billion euro, the finance ministry said in a statement on Tuesday.
In May alone, the consolidated budget turned to a deficit of 595 million euro from a 157 million euro surplus a year earlier.
The general government budget turned to a 1.27 billion euro deficit in January-May, from the 142 million euro surplus reported a year earlier, the finance ministry said.
Total revenues of the general government budget fell by an annual 16% to some 3.6 billion euro in the first five months of 2020, with tax revenues plunging 20% to 2.9 billion euro.
Total expenditures rose 19% on the year to 4.8 billion euro in January-May.
