August 4 (SeeNews) - Slovenia's consolidated budget was in deficit of 252 million euro ($257 million) in the first seven months of 2022, down from a 2.2 billion euro deficit in the like period of last year, the finance ministry said.
Budget revenues in the first five months of 2022 rose 17.9% on the year to 7.3 billion euro, while expenditure declined 10.5% to 7.5 billion euro, the finance ministry said in a statement on Wednesday.
Tax revenue in January-July totalled 6.1 billion euro, 19.3% more than in the same period last year, whereas value-added tax (VAT) inflow went up 19.1% to 2.7 billion euro and corporate income tax inflows increased by 47.5% to 1.0 billion euro, the finance ministry noted.
Interest expenses in the first seven months reached a total of 406 million euro and were 87 million euro lower than in the same period last year, the finance ministry said.
Slovenia closed 2021 with a consolidated budget deficit of 2.915 billion euro, equivalent to 5.8% of the estimated gross domestic product (GDP).
