March 31 (SeeNews) - Slovenia's consumer prices increased by an annual 1.9% in March, following a year-on-year growth of 2.2% a month earlier, the statistical office said on Friday.
In March, the largest contribution to annual inflation, of 0.9 percentage points (p.p.), came from higher oil products prices, the statistical office said in a monthly inflation report.
In addition, 0.4 p.p. was contributed by higher prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages, which rose by 2.4%. On the other hand, the annual inflation was pushed down by 0.1 p.p. by lower prices of second-hand motor cars.
On a monthly comparison basis, consumer prices edged up 0.4% in March, after increasing by 1.0% in February, the data indicated.
The month-on-month increase came on the back of higher clothing and footwear prices, and prices of sports equipment.
Measured by the harmonised index of consumer prices, in March the year-on-year growth rate of consumer prices was 2.0%.
Slovenia posted annual inflation of 0.5% in 2016, following 0.5% deflation in 2015.
