LJUBLJANA (Slovenia), February 7 (SeeNews) – Slovenia's trade surplus decreased to 240.9 million euro ($274.3 million) last year from 724.2 million euro in 2017, as imports grew faster than exports, the country's statistical office said on Thursday.
Exports rose 9.2% to 30.9 billion euro, while imports increased 11.0% to 30.6 billion euro last year, the statistical office, SURS, said in a statement.
The European Union was Slovenia’s main trading partner in 2018, absorbing 23.8 billion euro of the country's exports and providing 24 billion euro of its imports.
In December alone, Slovenia recorded a trade gap of 140.2 million euro, as exports rose 2.0% on the year to 2.24 billion euro, while imports expanded 6.0% to 2.38 billion euro.
