January 31 (SeeNews) - The number of foreign tourist arrivals to Slovenia rose by 16.7% year-on-year to 3,406,969 in 2017, the state statistical office said on Wednesday, citing provisional data.
Domestic tourists totalled 1,322,642 in the review period, up 5.6% on the year, taking the total number of tourists to 4,729,611 in 2017, up 13.4%, the statistical office said in a statement.
Overnight stays by international visitors grew 15.0% year-on-year in January-December, reaching 8,079,143.
Domestic tourists spent 3,909,576 nights in Slovenia in 2017, up 4.3% on the year. The overall number of tourist overnights in the review period increased to 11,988,719, up 11.3% on 2016.
In December alone, tourist visits totalled 280,341, up 11.1% on the year, while overnight stays increased by 10.0% to 657,607.
