March 4 (SeeNews) - Slovenian start-up SeaVision won the first place in this year’s MyGalileoSolution competition of the EU Global Navigation Satellite System Agency (GSA), securing a 40,000 euro ($48,100) financial investment, the Slovenian government said on Thursday.
SeaVision won the competition in Track 1 - from idea to prototype - category with its VisionAnchor solution which enables safe anchoring of boats with the help of satellite navigation systems and video surveillance, the Slovenian government said in a statement.
"Ranking at the very top of European start-ups is a great tribute to us and proof that we are developing a system that brings useful solutions both for the users themselves and for the preservation of our planet," Matija Jasarov, a co-founder of SeaVision, said.
The financial investment will help the SeaVision team to offer VisionAnchor to the first users for testing in the coming months, he added.
The VisionAnchor system includes an underwater camera and a location module, which allows users to monitor the position of the anchor on their smartphones. In addition, VisionAnchor is equipped with a security system that triggers an alarm in the event of dangerous anchor movement.
MyGalileoSolution is the biggest competition ever organised by the GSA, with a prize pool of almost 1.5 million euro shared by 50 teams and awards ranging from 15,000 euro to 60,000 euro.
